    to sister Alice, widow [?wife] of Stephen Pursell … moiety of … messuage … close meadow called Cooke's Close or Cock's Close, near Cookes Lane in Houghton Regis for life and then to nephew, John Pursell (eldest son of said Alice and Stephen) for ever to nephew William Pursell (2nd son of said Stephen and Alice) … cottage and ½ rood ground in occupation of Richard How in Leagrave, Luton to Stephen and Alice, or survivor of them … ready money, goods etc. to sell or dispose of all goods and stock in trade within 6 months after her decease, in trust to invest money raised in securities or public funds, which said money and all other personal estate is to go to nephews and nieces, i.e. Thomas, Joseph, James and Henry, and Ann, Elizabeth, Alice, Mary and Sarah, the children of said Alice Pursell, when they reach 21 or marry with approval of parents. In the meantime, interest to be used for their maintenance etc. 11 Jun 1767 also copy of will of Stephen Pursell, Houghton Regis, wheelwright to wife Alice … interest and use of ready money, chattels and personal estate, for life, to carry on trade, the better to enable her to educate the children. After her death, to be divided among the children. If wife remarries, then personal estate etc. to sister-in-law Elizabeth Ewer, in trust as above 11 Jun 1767
