- Scope and ContentBirthday congratulations. Dalrymple is 'little Dal'. Obliged to the little boy for his attention to the map of Spain etc. Glad they were not at Saltram when the mad dog ran over the improvements and killed the fine old eagle. Fritz's letter received, wrapped up in a lilac great coat. Attended the Pardo today. Dined at Kaunitz's. Expecting Lord Chatham & Mr. Conway around next Tuesday. Madrid will be in splendour in Holy Week. Great preparations of diamonds etc.. on the robings & facings of Ladies dresses. Madame Ramel, as all heretic ladies before, will probably dine at Grantham's and watch the procession from the windows. Aranjuez next month. The Swedes dined at Kaunitz's. Will probably give a dinner himself on Easter Monday. The Desert needs only a few bronze ornaments. Longs to see Fritz's new year's gift to him. Corps social life still in decline. One of Mr. P.'s [Parker’s] pictures nearly finished. Grantham's 'mad German' is at Paris, would not have done them in their present size so well as the young man here.
