January - mid March relate to bird sitings in and around Woburn; press cuttings regarding prize distribution ot Woburn schoolboys for nature study work competition - the first prize, donated by the Duchess of Bedford, was "a field-glass"; 2nd prize, donated by Major Gregory Haines of Hockliffe Manor, was a silver watch; other prizes were donated by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, London. There are also pencil sketches and watercolours of birds and other natural history subjects by Miss Brown and a magazine photograph of the Duke and Duchess of Bedford with their son Lord Tavistock, "who has just come of age", all with double barrell shotguns.
From mid March - mid April the diaries relate to a visit to Scotland where they stayed, first at Meikleour House, where the Duke and Duchess and Lord Tavistock spent much time in salmon fishing - press reports record Lord Tavistock's record catch. Journeys were made to nearby places, including Edinburgh and the last two days were spent at Aviemore. There are numerous postcards of places visisted and birds and there is also, opposite March 29th, a print of a water lily pond in an old flower abundant, brick walled garden surrounded by trees, by Lilian Stannard.
