- Scope and ContentPurses not finished. Therese's letter from Sackville Street. Nanny arrived safely at Whitehall. Dr. Spens commissioned to bring two parcels to Whitehall, one for Colonel Howe and one for Nanny & Mrs. Stainforth. Spens a quiet, worthy man. Parcel for Howe is a list of the Army there [Spain]. Aunt Stainforth's is a drawing of a Knight of the New Order of Charles III in his Robes, up to her where she puts it. Grimaldi's Ball and one at Benevente’s, saw the prettiest woman they've seen in Madrid, resembled Lady Carlisle or Mrs. Crew. Last Masquerade tomorrow, plans for staying it out and dining late the next day. Wild Boar found 60 feet below surface in some salt pits, flattened but well preserved. The King showed it to them. "It would not sit amiss with Conger dous [dried conger for making soap; Catholic countries and Cornwall- OED]". Aranjuez soon. Mr. Wall there. Would like to have the Play at Winterslow, especially Lord Pembroke etc... Doubt Pembroke's present passion lasting. Thinks Lord Ligonier is a bold man etc..
