Fears the former may quit Whitehall, but knows it won't affect Nanny's friendship with Miss M.[Mary Pelham?] Delighted with Therese's design [for the Inkstand?]. Galas and illuminations this week, latter unsuccessful due to distance of houses from each other. Five weeks more at St. Ildefonso, Provost [of Dublin] arriving in a fortnight. The young gentlemen dined with an Irishwoman recently whose husband has a steel manufacturers there. Among other things gave them plumb pudding. Sending his Patissier to see one made so they can always have one with roast beef. Chest of Sea biscuits sent for the winter, also, smoked salmon from Holland and Hamburgh beef. Truffles and pyes, will take fewer of, former more than they are worth when carriage included. Observing a moderate diet, goes to bed hungry etc... Fritz's wicked comparison of him with his Uncle Worsley, greying and getting thinner. Longs to see nephew.
