- Scope and ContentGrantham's letter dated 20 June from Madrid by his servant, the Rolisseur. Still awaiting letters of recall. Doesn't seem to know the measures Almodobar took in England. Speculation about Grantham's route etc... Glad Mr. Parker not encamped. Tom Pelham not certain of his destination. Sorry the new Cook does not turn out better. Effects of school on the little boy, hopes he is not too altered before Grantham sees him. TheTrevors and the Bannisters dined Saturday, hopes there are no return visits whilst he is there. Party to Crowhurst suggested. May see Tom [Pelham] at Midhurst. 4 July[1779] Left Stanmer this morning. Has seen M. Rennard who brought dispatches from Spain, he left Grantham well. Lucky coincidences directed him to Lord Weymouth's office. Whitehall 5 Jul 1779.
