    Acknowledging receipt of her letter, ashamed of being so long in her debt [gives excuses]. Anxiety about putting off her trip to Stanmer twice, finally going tomorrow. Dowager Lady Chichester and Lady Emily (Pelham?) are at Brighton, they go to Stanmer after A. Robinson. Latter’s trip delayed by her having to stay with Lady Mary after she received the sad account of Lord Courtown’s severe “attack”. Lady Sydney is involved with her own family and wants A. Robinson to stay on longer with Lady Mary but she feels justified in going having her whole summer to her. Miss Brodrick went to Mrs Mary Townsend’s for a few days, and then to Mr Thomas’ near Eastbourne, where Lady Middleton is. She comes to Lord Middleton’s in Park Street next month. Lord Middleton paying for all her alterations and repairs in her house in Grosvenor Place. Believes she was “very well left” but “now very low”. Lady Morton’s house was not robbed but broken into. They heard two pistols and other noise in the street. The servants wisely told Lady Mary it was merely a quarrel etc.
