- Scope and ContentRainton Inclosure Bill [includes Norton-le-Clay]. Mr. Heaton, an Agent of the Duke of Devonshire, has found a note by Mr. Heathcote in an old Rental of Rainton saying "the above Farms are my Lord Dukes entirely, but the Royalty is in him & Sir Wm. Robinson in Moiety". Consequently he does not feel warranted to admit that Sir Norton Robinson is solely Lord of the Manor of Rainton. In order not to delay Inclosure Bill [for the sake of Norton] he wishes to insert the above point and leave the issue open for future enquiry. General discussion and possible solutions to the matter follow. Mr. Maynard of Chesterfield, Freeholders of Norton le Clay and Mr. Fletcher a Commissioner of the Duke are mentioned. Sorry to hear about F. Robinson's gout via Mr. Waddilove.
