- Scope and ContentConcerning Mr. [Jim] Worsleyp's [a cousin, Lieutenant in Garrison at Gibralter], explanation of F. Robinson's reasons for refusing to accept the bill drawn upon him and endorsed by Stapylton, for £25. Details of Worsley's deceit in previous financial transactions. Stapylton's brother Richard mentioned, also Mr. Winter. F. Robinson considers Worsley's behaviour as "unfeeling and ungrateful" bearing in mind the support given his family by Robinson's family. Wishes to know of Worsley's behaviour in his position in the Army, unwilling to give up on him if this is good etc... Laments Mrs. Worsley's position, "few people with her connections are so entirely unprovided for...". Has been successful recently in obtaining an annual allowance for her from Mr. Worsley's relations and her own [?Pennymans]. Mr. Worsley must try to manage on his pay. Second son intended for the Church [Ralph], not providing for himself yet. Third son [Dick] is a Midshipman, no prospect of promotion. Hopes this all accounts for his refusal. Mrs. Worsley and her other sons have not heard from Mr. Worsley for a long time.
