    Received his of 29th and 30th. Sir John Hart, Mr. Coghill and Waddilove staying overnight at Newby. Health good, no nerves, little asthma etc... Rode today. Only went as far as the Obelisk with his guests. Exercising caution and regularity. Letter from Nanny. Anxious to know if Lady Robinson's cold gone. Glad to hear Louisa is well, supposes the Prince of Wales "stands very high in Books at present". Fritz's account of his Park Room is pleasant. Draper wrote a kind letter. [D] Warren's mysterious trip into the Country. Speculation as to reason. Grantham thinks he has done him some good. Will continue with the Bath. Newby [Park] works. Scaffolding in Eating room, room looking good. Blanchard has put the Chimney pieces in the Hall and Drawing room, looking too shallow, will get Belwood to assist with trying [fires in] them tomorrow. Went to Weddell's [Newby Hall] yesterday, he has done much on his flower garden. The Salle des Singes is a whim, the paintings in it; an Owl in an hat and feather, a Cat in a muff and tippet etc... with various Pugs and Dogs "make it look more like an Academy of dancing Dogs than it should". Weddell pleased with the drawings of the ceilings and the hall chimney pieces which Grantham had done. Weddell going to Town at Christmas.
