    Response to Fritz's update on his gout. Will continue to send the Papers. [At Newby] Mickel at work mainly at Cockshutt Gate, planting afterwards. Sir T. Frankland likely to employ Linley, a bricklayer, at Doncaster. Mickle wants to be recommended to him. Drawing Room today, very hot, Lady G. Remarkable well dress, Mrs. Carew helped. Grantham’s clothes, Liveries, Cortege. St. James' Square tonight. Lady Harcourt the "finest Doll" at Court. Ms. Hastings "very flaring". Mrs. Fawkener and Lady St. Asaph very pretty. Duchess of Rutland fades. The Queen has given some Figure Ribbons to their Aunt. Lord Lansdown impressed by Jack [nephew Parker?], heard of him through Sir J. Hart. Wilmot at Court. Mrs. Worsley being defeated by the Creditors, thinks she will get nothing. Recommended Jem [cousin Worsley] to Dalrymple who promised everything he could. Dundas has good hopes and intentions that Sir James Grant will obtain a sum of money but he has not promised anything. Mrs. Waddilove to know only what Sir James will be told i.e. that Grantham has spoken to Dundas and he is "in the best disposition". The Markhams know of Fritz's confinement. Also saw Mr. Lace [?Law], resembles Sir G. Elliott. Presented to Pepper's wife, she resembles Lady Salisbury. Feeling better than for many days but declined dinner at Lord Sydney's./ Two days remaining for the Council, hard work but has nothing else to do. Misses Fritz. Lady Grantham sends love. Surprized Mrs. Wad[dilove] does not make a third [child?].
