    Received letters from Fritz, Nanny and Mr. Merrick. Success of their Negotiation in the latter. Jem [Worsley's] affair is settled, thinks Commission will be signed the first time Sir G. Younge does into the King. Paid for at Boldero's. Latter will take £50 from Fritz's balance and add it to £116.15 of Grantham's. Heard from Stanmer, Warden is dead, left Tom [Pelham] £300 and 60£ per annum near Stanmer. Jack and sister [Theresa Parker] have £20 prize and so has Fritz. Lord Boringdons request that Grantham and Fritz sit for him by Mr. Stewart, recommended by Sir Jos. [Joshua Reynolds]. Scholar of West's, they once saw him painting a little girl of Lady Sykes'. Sorry Fritz will not have the Thompsons at Weddell's. Dined with Mr. John and Lady Bell at St. James' Square. Went well. The Babes [sons] behaved incomparably in the morning. With Batt today. Lord Herbert is Mayor of Wilton and being Lord Paramount puts in a substitute upon the vacation of his seat, till he can be re-elected. Will attend Levée tomorrow if there is one.
