- Scope and ContentKnow present and future men that I Richard Ratell of Stacheden [Stagsden] in the County of Bedford, husbandman, have given, conceded and by this my charter have confirmed to Helen, my wife my tenement, situated in the West End of Stacheden [Stagsden] aforesaid, just as it lies there between my tenement there on the south part and the pightle of John Toller on the north part with 6 acres of arrable land of which 6 acres of land aforesaid: 1 acres lies in Milneffeld towards the church; 1 acre called Brodacre; 5 selions abulting on longlond containing one acre lying in the north field; 1 acre called longballe (longbalke); 1 acre towards the common pyghtell and 1 acre at Grenehed lond with the appurtenances of them, to have and to hold the afore said tenement with the 6 acres aforesaid to the aforesaid Helen, my wife, from the end of my life to the end of her life from the chief lord of that fee by service then owed and from customary right. And I, indeed, the aforesaid Richard and my heirs will warrant & defend forever against all people the aforesaid tenement with the 6 acres of land aforesaid with all their appurtenances to the aforesaid Helen to the end of her natural life, as is aforesaid. In witness of which thing I have placed my seal ot this present charter with these witnesses John Toller, Robert Samnson, Robert Cok, John Cok, William Wodehyll and many others. Dated at Stacheden [Stagsden] aforesaid. 11 March 1 Richard III [1484] seal good condition round with an S on it
