- Scope and ContentAffirms that there is no cause whatever which could justify a rupture on the part of the [Spanish] Court, although the extensive armaments on foot create a doubt upon their destination, naming it prudent for them to think with uncertainty rather than security. Refers to his plans in no.20 which he stands by. If he thinks return to Grantham in Spain is proper it must not appear a sudden decision. Fritz to see Lord Weymouth about it. Grantham to write to Weymouth under cover to Fritz. Latter not to assume that this will be the position but just to be prepared etc... Letter coming by German Messenger to Paris thence forwarded under cover to the Office, enclosed to Count Belgioso, with Kauntiz/Kaunitz's leave. [In Cypher]; As to what may hapen [sic] there are on one hand discontent and reserve manifest and avowed on the other comon[?] sense with universal opinion the latter are in delicate circumstances to be relief upon preferan;u tp tje sis[ocopm wjocj tje fpr,er oms[ore O tjerefpre wrote accordingly[?] to Weymouth.
