    Attended Court managed the fatigues very well. Irritation remaining [from the Gravel] is much diminished. Has advised Portugal to print a list of the mutual presents made by the Spanish and Portuguese Courts. The Reigning Queen of Portugal has sent; to the Princess, a fine Gold Box full of rough diamonds the Infanta, the same but less magnificent to Morino, her picture, ill done, set in fine diamonds to Galvez, a pair of diamond buckles to Musquiz, sleeve buttons. The Queen Dowager has given; to the Princess, a complete set of Topazes and brilliants Prince, a gold Couvert for the Field in a matter of pearl case to Baños, a pair of diamond buckles to Lozada and Montealegro, a rich gold box each with a diamond ring of value to the Camerara Maior, a diamond Eyrette[?] to the Infanta Maria Josepha, a set of chrsolites and India Taffeta and embroidered muslin The King of Spain has given; his sister [the Dowager] some pictures, probably sacred subjects, and guns etc. the two ladies and two gentlemen, his picture set in diamonds The Prince has given; to the Queen his picture in diamonds The Princess has given; [to the Queen] a birdcage with some jewels and musical pipes Camerara Mor a blue enamelled watch set in diamonds Duchess of Lumiar a Dejeune in gold Many more in store for inferior Personages Using the privilege of an invalid to avoid dining at Morino's, too long and serious, will go in after dinner. [Later] Monro has a brother and nephew there. The Queen sets out tomorrow at nine o'clock. The King will see her to the last. Saw Don Lewis today, told him his commission was expected, to be delivered to Eril[?]. The Infant looks well, mentions his embroidered coat. Great finery today. Abbé Ryan going to England next summer, hoped to see Fritz. 4 November 1778 Received Fritz's of 13 October no. 58. Happy his [Grantham's] letter of 21 September set him at ease. Demetrius had no present for his trouble. Fritz's approval of Grantham's words about Preston. Waddilove kind and attentive. Grantham's feelings of guilt at his [W's] being dragged into his solitude, will let him leave first when the time comes. Draper writes of S's [Shadwell's] illness, still very mysterious etc... Fritz's finger ache should not be left to gain ground. Little boy [nephew Parker's] teeth mentioned. The King was much affected by the Queen's departure. Fernannunez already liked and admired at Lisbon. Comparison of his Plate to Grantham's. Sending a drawing of the Vases for Atocha. Grantham's set of drawings of the Escurial will not be increased in the current weather. Naples came to St. Charles' Day. Borghere is not old etc... Diodati is dead. Monsieur Frimouille is returned after his leg being reduced by a leg doctor in Flanders. Madame Benevente is come down. Portugal suggested the distribution of the presents etc... Has bought the remnants of Prego's horses. Skipped Court due to bad weather. Nothing to say by Lisbon. 5 November [1778].
