    Very great comfort to know Frederick is home safely. Has letters too from Nanny and Lady Pelham. Opened Draper's letter to Waddilove inadvertently, he also says Frederick is well. Has seen the little folks [niece and nephew, Jack and Theresa Parker]. Lady Pelham's account of Frederick. Account of arrival of the post containing Frederick's long awaited letter. Kauntiz/Kaunitz and Waddilove mentioned. Called Delapierre's brother in to tell him Frederick had written. Tipped John for his Albricias. Preoccupied with home whilst dining with Almodóvar at Losada's. The Castle is really begun....". 8 May [1778]. Great deal of anxiety removed by receipt of Frederick's letter. Penafuentes' last night, low party at vingt un, broke up on account of Grantham's good luck, he won 16½ medals. Masin and Munro came last night. The Nuncio today. All dining at Marino's/Morino? Didn't go to Bull Feast to please Frederick. Rode in afternoon. Much admired. Before breakfast Kaunitz drove him, with three horses, to the Ambassador. The Bridge is being rebuilt. Trees lopped. Morino said he'd heard from Escarano that Frederick had arrived, was well and was going to Court etc. Feelings about their attachment to Draper. Nanny says Frederick has been to the Queen's House twice. Lauzun carried a letter for Grantham's Aunt [Stainforth?]. 9 May [1778].
