- Scope and ContentReceived his from Toulon this morning with great satisfaction. Hope he is safely in England by now. Agrees with his decision to push forward on his journey missing out Lyons. Doing his best to keep up his spirits. Résumé of all letters sent so far and by whom. Arrangements for numbering in future. Received a letter to Frederick from Nanny begging him to leave before the heat. Also a letter from Sh. [?Shadwell] who called at Sackville Street. Concerned at not trusting common post on the 30th with a few lines for the Office, acknowledging the arrival o the Messenger and intention to dispatch him next day. Since found he will have stayed at Lisbon awhile. Removal to Aranjuez. Only Grantham and Monmourin there at first. Rest after May Day. Kaunitz will drive Grantham out etc... 14 April [1778]. Court is come to town, usual hurry and shabby parade. Saw Naples got to Court in his Coach. Waddilove very attentive and understanding etc... Cannot replace Frederick of course. 15 April [1778].
