  • Scope and Content
The Robinsons Tour; thanks for account, doesn't doubt of the amusement it afforded Lord Boringdon [Jack Parker] etc... Would like a full account from him of the impression the visit to his cousins made on him, "those worthy good Ladies are to be sure rather tardy in altering, but it is much more provoking that poor Lady Robinson should be so likely to die before Sir Norton.... Will have more to lay at Newby however, as a result of latter. Mention of wall being built at Newby [nothing more specific]. Education of the Boys; discussion, time for F. Robinson to take more upon himself. Asks for his thoughts. Has mentioned to Lord Boringdon the possibility of a person coming to read to them. Mr. Peirce's lessons are begun again, pleased with Tom's writing and his brother's reading etc... Glad of his approval of her plans about servants; looking for a footman at 16 or 17 guineas wages, instead of 18, besides leaving off that foolishest of all La Pierre's follies agreeing to give them powder for their hair. Charles to stay as he is if he wants. John [the Coachman?] himself thinks his health not up to driving about in London and would have spoken up himself if she hadn't. A valuable servant, wants to help him with a place in the country etc... Changing Foulston at Christmas, taking her father's Jobman. Her father and mother are at Richmond, father is much as usual. Compliments from her sister [Amabel]. P.S. What is become of James and Richard Worsley and their mother? Why did James leave the Army?
