  • Scope and Content
Writing fewer letters to Frederick and Jack as they no longer so free. Theresa has received Lady Robinson's letter. No answer from Lady Sydney's letter, she is at Frognal until next month. Not disappointed at their negotiation failing [for a house?]. Glad Frederick thinks it in Jack's interest for her to be at Saltram, worried about the extra expense however. Dreading the thought of going to London but will be there in time to clear the house [Sackville Street] for Lord Grey. Writing to Crighton about a furnished house as near to Privy Garden as he can get. Thinks it may cost three to four guineas a week for five months, not sure if this is reasonable or not due to inexperience. Scotch Firs still coming down. Weather too dry for planting. Mr. H. Ley wrote his brother went to Bath. Former seems to have done well in his round in South Hams. Northmoulton this week. Mr. Andrewes 100£ hasn't yet been remitted to him. Merafield (Farm, Devon?)corn to be sold on Wednesday next week. Barley had everywhere and very dear. Plenty of grass, hay worth nothing. Mr. Pearce has let the grass in Queenhyth Park for eight guineas until Christmas, not enough stock left to eat it. Dr. Warren and family have visited Lady Pelham. He also saw Harry [Pelham] at Bath, much better but needs longer. Lucy is better, Lord Miggleton/Middleton? and his little are [at] Stanmer, they are always expecting company or going out, Anne wonders how she copes.
