- Scope and ContentLeft Stanmer on Wednesday. Visited Miss Mary at Brighton. Miss Pelham was in good humour. All well at Stanmer except Emily. Lady Pelham intending to take her to Dr. Warren from Peper harow[sic] when they all go soon. Afraid Lord Boringdon has had a bad meeting by the Papers. Won't have many more, he has already sold Anvil to the Prince of Wales. Has given leave for Anne to send for Jack as a surprise. Mr. Morel's balloons being let off every night at Stanmer. One succeeded. Going to see Mr. Lunardi's and Monsieur Blanchards at the Pantheon and Christies. Back in Devonshire by end of next week. Bishop of Chichester expected at Stanmer the day she left. Lord Pelham in a fidget about the Church of Chichester and a living which has caused a quarrel between him and Bishop of Winchester. Mrs. North mentioned. Glad Frederick pleased with his Tour to the Lakes. Thinks Lady Grantham is grown a great traveller. Saw Mrs. Guerin at Stanmer, she was visiting Mrs. Metcalf and going back to Lady Robinson at Tunbridge who was benefiting from being there. Many Happy Returns of the 11th.
