  • Scope and Content
Paid two shillings on receipt of his last letter as the Frank was undated. The Duke of Richmond and Sir William How are at Plymouth surveying the Coast to raise fortifications at vast expence. Lord Boringdon has gone to make them a visit. Lord George and his son are with them. Miss Lenox is married. Hardy thinks it was old Bob Waller appointed Groom of the Bed Chamber as he could not submit to the attendance. Bad account of Mr. Lawrence. Hopes he will recover. Miss Mary [Pelham] said Lady Chatham was mending very slowly. The Admiral has orders to pay off the Blenheim, he will hardly have it in his power to put Darly on his books as he will rate as many of his own Midshipmen (27) as he can. He had given Lord Boringdon a small Turtle of about 30 lbs. Glad Grantham has had a fit of drawing, hopes it will continue and not go off with Lady Bel. Has made up her Habit, much admired.
