- Scope and ContentMr. Parker obliged for his care of the note. The Boy is flattered at Grantham's reply to his letter. Glad to hear Frederick and Grantham got to Richmond. Concerned about robberies on the road. Glad they have seen Dal and that Grantham likes him. He want to purchase a Majority if it should fall in "my brother's" way to speak to him, either to Secretary at War or General Conway. Mr. Parker would think himself obliged to him. Duchess of Devonshire sends compliments to Grantham. She wishes to know whether Mr. Hare goes Consult to Naples. Lord and Lady Duncannon arrived. Also Lady Elizabeth [Foster?]. Possibility of a party up the Tamer[sic]. Lord Shuldham gave them all a small ill dressed turtle at dinner yesterday. The Havilands come tomorrow. The Old General is grown very strict and "not in such good humour as when his sister was in Office". Doubtful if he will give Mr. Parker leave to go to Bath. Jack [little boy] thinking of the end to his holidays. Frequent and short visits of use but long and seldom quite the contrary. He is glad Frederick will be in his neighbourhood. He has completed a good deal more work than Dr. Kyte gave him. Colonel Lechmeere of the Worcester dined today, was at Cambridge with Grantham. Lord and Lady Lincoln expected tomorrow, she is cheerful and good humoured etc. He has monstrous spirits and is good humoured etc... Glad to show them civility on Miss Mary's [Pelham's] account as well as their own. Fleet gone to Spithead. Little Girl well but has lost two teeth.
