- Scope and ContentHappy New Year. Thanks but no thanks for the offer of Yarico. Good accounts from her at Tavistoke[sic]. Returned from Mr. Anscot's yesterday, expecting them at Saltram with Sir William Molesworth this week. Sir Thomas Acland coming next Tuesday. He is much better. Received Grantham's letter from Stanmer, a house currently "full of very good people all colected[sic] together...". Glad house in Whitehall coming on. Will see it when they get to Town to return little boy to school. He went with them to Tedcott. Nothing in Harbour but Dutch colours, prizes brought in every day. Mr. Harris dead at Salisbury. Fine weather except for five days hard frost, enough to fill the Ice House, which they have done. Library to be finished this week. Book up next. All the trees are come for the Plantation, most to be planted this week.
