Title
Court Rolls, Extents, Rentals and associated documents concerning the Manors of Kempston
Scope and Content
Reputed Manors:
"Hardwick", belonging to Hospital of St John Jerusalem, given as a manor in Victoria County History, iii.302, was a 'member' of the Hospitallers' manor of Selynge
"Hardwick" of uncertain origin (certainly not of that given in Victoria County History, iii.301b, which is Hardwick in Cottesloe Hundred county Buckingham) appears to have been sold to the Governors of the Hospitals of Christ, Bridewell, and St Thomas, established by Edward VI. Membranes 23, 26, 32 of PE466/2, and membrane 9 of PE466/3, are rolls of their court
Hardwick as a hamlet, a 'member' of Kempston Greys, on some of the Greys' rolls
