Scope and Content
… three selions arable in Stone Field containing 1½ acres abutting W. on John Peirson's copyhold pightle next Newolds Lane and at the other end on a land of Nicholas Cooke lying next the highway, the gravel pits N.
Declaration by iii) "for the love he hearest to the Inhabitants of Kempston .. and to encourage them to keepe and maintain all the highwaies and publick Cawsewaies within the said parish that Lye on the north side of a certain Brooke .. called Hardwick Brooke in good and sufficient repaire for ever hereafter" that he will allow the Surveyors of the highways in Kempston on the north of Hardwick Brook to dig and take away gravell out of two of the selions that lie next the gravel pits on the east of the highway there leading to Elstow to mend such highways. The surveyors of the hamlet of Kempston Hardwick in the parish of Kempston can take 6 cart loads of gravel each year out of the said 2 selions to be used on highways on south of said brook.
