Archival history
The deeds were in an old trunk containing various deeds and other documents that were all the old documents brought from the office of Messrs Pearse & Ritson (possibly 8 St Paul's Square, Bedford). This firm went out of practice about 1930 when it was purchased by Mr W H Smith of Woburn; they were loose and in no order, but were arranged first before cataloguing. The majority of the old records of the firm of Pearse & Ritson were deposited by Mr E Pearse in 1926, and were catalogued as PE1-467. Further deeds, etc originally belonging to the same collection were catalogued as AD1-8 and 537-565.
