During the war worked for the Timber Supply Department and for the Devon Patriotic Fund. District Commissioner for Boy Scouts for Mid-Devon, 1912-19, and for Mid-Bedfordshire, 1921-30.

Died 20 January 1953 aged 94 at The Berries, Biddenham.
