Aunt Nanny thinks her new Madmoiselle will answer well. Reads French for an hour every day with Therese [Boringdon]. Sir John? Chichester's death last Saturday. Present Sir John gone to Bath, not well. Papa's visits to North Devon delayed by Sir J. Hort arriving from Lisbon any day. Made baloon of between five and six feel high and fifteen in circumference. Failed initially then got it up and it went to bottom of the Lawn, fell when flame burnt a hole.
