  • Scope and Content
Transfer to Mrs. Peirse of debt due to late Lady Robinson under the Clifton Inclosure Act. Inclosure Act states that the person entitled in Remiander after Sir William Robinson's death was to pay his Executors two thirds of the money expended, which W. Robinson estimated at £900. Accounts and papers in Mr. Ellis’ hands suggest £860-870. This uncertainty and Sir Norton's position mean the only way of coming at the two thirds parts is by the slow method prescribed by the Act, of entering on the new Enclosures and receiving the Yearly Rents. Difficult by transfer and an ineligible security to be put into Mrs. Peirse's hands [length of time for payment considering her age]. Suggested to F. Robinson as Sir Norton's Committee to have a Petition preferred in his name in the matter of Lunacy, stating existence of demand for £600 and his having paid interest for several years, now called upon to pay remaining interest and principal part out of the rent of the new allotments. Request directions of Court. Fine if payment ordered accordingly otherwise demand has to be ascertained and proved.
