Recites indenture of 15 August 1695 made between
i) Mary Davies of Goldingon, widow and relict of John Davies of Goldington, esquire deceased, and one of the three daughters of Sir Thomas Hatton late of Long Staunton, Cambridgeshire, knight and Mary his wife;
ii) John Spencer of Bedford, gentleman
In consideration of £300 and £100 and £450
… all those several closes or enclosed ground, pasture, meadow, or woodland with appurtenances in Ravensden called Arrow Leys containing 35 acres
For 99 years at a peppercorn rent
The residue of the 99 years to Thomas Lockington in trust, whereas afterwards Mary Davyes sold the land to and for the use of Thomas Halsey, and John Davies paid unto John Spencer £300 and interest
Further reciting indenture of 6 January 1699 between
i) John Spencer of Bedford, esquire;
ii) Mary Davyes, John Davyes and Mary his wife;
iii) Thomas Halsey;
iv) Thomas Lockington
i) with consent of ii) unto iv) with iii) as attorney, … same property for the residue of the 99 years
and whereas the said Thomas Halsey has lately sold the rest of the premises for the use of Randolph Taylor
NOW this indenture witnesses that Lockington in consideration of 5s and a peppercorn rent if demanded, he to have and to hold the said property in trust for Randolph Taylor.
