    Recites indenture [Marriage Settlement] of 23 January 1720 between i) Elizabeth Bennet of Rotherhith, Surrey, widow deceased, ii) James Goddard of Lincoln's Inn, gentleman, iii) Frances Powell of Rotherhith, grandniece of the said Elizabeth Bennet, iv) Richard Lawley of Hammersmith, Middlesex, esquire and Nathan Wright of Iver, Buckinghamshire, esquire In consideration of marriage between James Goddard and Frances Powell, i) to iv) … £1,200 part of the £3985..16s..7d which Mr Rogers, late one of the Masters of the court of Chancery by his report of 22 July 1719 did certify unto i) in trust that iv) should place it out at interest approved by i) during the natural life of Frances Powell and to be payable to her Frances Powell Uses of i) Whereas the sum was put into the hand of iv) and whereas since the said order the said Elizabeth Bennet has died, by her Will of no date Case in chancery of 7 June wherein James Goddard and his wife are plaintiffs and the said Dame Dorothy Harvey are defendants with iv) It is ordered that the said sum of £1,200 be placed out at interest with the approbation of Mr Kinaston according to the former order of this court This indenture witnesses that Francis Brace in consideration of £1,200 paid by William Kinaston with the consent of Dame Harvey Brace to Kinaston: …21 leyes containing by estimation 11 acres being parcel of Newnham Leyes …one leye abutting S. upon land of William Faldo and N. upon land late Benjamin Haselden, gentleman deceased late etc. [in fact land and messuage as in PE61] All which in the tenure or occupation of John Wadmore To have and to hold unto Kinaston for the sum of £1,260, the first part of £30 due on 1 July next; the residue of £1,230 on 31 December next 1723 Signatures and seals of Francis Brace and Dorothy Harvey Tag for another seal Receipt for £1,200 witnessed by Joseph Biscoe, William Rogers Witnesses to sealing: Joseph Biscoe, William Rogers and William Ford
