    Pew in White Hall Chapel belonging to Mrs. Hanbury's House. Response to Mr. Robinson's claim of it. Asks that Mrs. Martin be acquainted with claim, made on grounds that Lady Grantham lent her seat to Miss Robinson & another Lady. Dean of King's Chapels have hitherto disavowed by Gentleman or Lady having a right of Claim to any particular seat. Gives exceptions. Remaining seats at disposal of Lord Bishop of London & then at discretion of yeoman of Chapel. Cites in detail rules of Bishop Terrick, who appointed him [Chamberlain] in 1771, and Bishop Gibson, Terrick’s predecessor. Bishop Lowth confirmed these directions. Forwarded copy of letter to Bishop of London. Lord Grantham's seat, Lady Grantham may wish for the young Lord Grantham, the young gentlemen and their Tutor. Lady Leigh & Mrs. Webster who currently use the seat must give way if Lady Grantham requests it. Mrs. Webster related to Bishop of London, mother to Countess of Ely. Lives in Spring Gardens. P.S. Mrs. Martin married to James Martin Esquire, M.P. for Tewkesbury, who lived in Whitehall and now Downing Street.
