Hoping to see Grantham in London within a year. Changes in England; lateness of hours, increase in expense etc.. Sir William Hanger refused Brussels as it was not on same footing as when Sir W. Gordon had it, but only resident. Fitzherbert appointed. Lord Deerhurst, just 18, ran away with Lady Catherine Henley about five days ago. Has the King's leave to go to America. Crossed Tweed before leaving. Forgeries prevalent; impending fate of Dr. Dodd not a deterrent. Mr. Brown Dignam has sold several lucrative offices under Government and forged signatures. Managed to avoid Tyburn. Dalrymple's 'Journey through Spain and Portugal' to be in one volume in Quarto. Expected to be good in Military section.
