    Excuses himself for not writing sooner. Mrs. Weddell sends thanks for the chalks. Hopes Waddilove returned safely. No news from the Newby's [Hall & Park]. His work at the Hall goes on slowly. Mrs. Aislabie too ill to get to Yorkshire this Summer, Aislabie will go for a short while without her. They have bought a Villa at Hendon, formerly belonging to Lord Northampton. Weddell at Tunbridge to try the waters for his current nervous complaint. Comments on the fine country, fine women etc... Hoping to be in Yorkshire in August in order to give assistance to their neighbour & Dean of Ripon (Heneage Dering), with his vote for his son to be registered for the North Riding. C. Crowe opposes him for his brother. Remembrances to Frederick [Robinson]. Sir T. Tancred to sell his estates at Brampton and Givendale, has given Weddell leave to make an offer for them. They adjoin close to Newby. Asking whether Grantham & Frederick would have any objections to an Act of Parliament for power to sell some of the entailed estates & settle them to the same uses. Most eligible to sell would be Earswick and Huntington near York. Earswick an old family estate of Weddell's uncle. Note on back of letter by Grantham, ready to consent to any exchange. Draper to be informed whenever business settled.
