    Acknowledging receipt of letters from Ponz, Bayer & Seward. Answered Mr. Dillon as directed by Grantham. If Grantham didn't give Ponz's letter to Lort will direct it to Society when next in Town. Bishop of Chester [Beilby Porteus] & the Dr. will be much edified today. Waddilove would like to have assisted at Function. Wine; from London via Hull. Captain Morley, owner of boats between Hull & Boroughbridge, to take care of it. Alarmed at Mr. Robinson's late complaints. Reference to trip to Bath & how it may or may not help. Congratulations on Grantham's recent good fortune [not specified]. Remaining volume of new edition of the Spanish Dictionary. Has a complete set. Dimensions of ground floor windows in Newby House. Weddell may be down next week. Waddilove went to Mardon Chapel yesterday, weather prevented going on to Newby Hall. Seward says Spaniards expected to open on them soon - "they had at times much interrupted their works from seven or eight Batteries". Spanish Camp complete etc. Barcelo keeping an eye, Garrison in great spirits [Gibralter?]. Bayer sends compliments, wishes to be remembered to Sn. Don Antonio Storer. Enclosure [not present], reference to a meeting, advertisement in York Papers last week. [See next letter]
