  • Scope and Content
Letter to Thomas Wing from Eagles & Son at Ampthill: “The recitals you have now delivered are the same as proposed by your letter of the 13th June, to which we replied on the 20th consenting that the second recital should stand as you first framed it – with regard to the third, we now suggest that it should stand thus “And whereas differences have arisen between the said Duke and the said Rachael Evans, executrix as appears touching the Amount of compensation due by the said Duke to the said Thomas Evans during his life time in respect of such Employment for which the said Rachael Evans as such executrix has sent in a Bill of Charges amounting to the sum of £343.13.1” and that the words “said Bill of Charges” in the last recital should remain – we anticipate no objection to this as the offensive part of the 3rd recital will be omitted. As to Mr Davis, your letter then will be no difficulty as regards his Attendance and therefore the Alteration in that respect may be erased. Upon receiving your assent to the above we will have one part of the Agreement immediately engrossed and placed in the hands of your Referee”.
