  • Scope and Content
Hopes a little Aquabusade has cured Grantham's sprain. Has only executed half the commissions brought from Spain. Colonel Ross asking when Waddilove leaving. Baird impatient to leave London in case an accident should detain him longer than Colonel Boyd may wish. Will try to make contact with a dog stealer next week, "not...much difficulty in finding the pretty creatures...more in finding a Captain to take care of them". Going into Hertfordshire for a few days, also must make an excursion to Cherry Burton. Will perhaps lie another night at Newby. Has heard no more from the Dean. Dined with Miss Robinson at Lord Pelham's. Mr. Pelham's determination not yet known [nothing more specific]. Meeting him in Town following week. Glad Court of Spain has not rejected artists well received in other parts of Europe. Wonderful mezzotintos being published from the pictures at Houghton. [Unclear reference to perhaps acquiring some for Count Massin]. Chaise for Spain, ordered it to be painted light green (brick dust the present fashionable colour). Begged Miss R. to ask Mrs. P. for an Urn or flowers for it. Lining will be leather or manchester. Body big enough to hold Olivida & Priego. Glad Bayer succeeded, will congratulate him at Valencia. Hope the Inkstand received. The S Ball [?] is increasing for another coach, Mr. D. thinks a broad wheeled Waggon would do better. Intended writing to Shadwell but too late. Two ship receipts dated 23 February: Prints from Houghton Collection by Boydell [Richard], ten in number at £2.2.0. in the 1st no., a Fruit Market - Snyders - Earlo [?page ripped] is excellent. Boydell publishing notices with Devonshire Dr.......[letter ripped]. Wishes to be [informed where?] any of the original pictures are and who done for.
