Received letter enclosing His Highness's pattern. Hopes he knows difference between fine drabs and fine English broad clothes. Will base quantity on his size rather than little secretary's. Thermometers for His Highness. Count Massin and Frederick's will come in Naple's Coach. Also perhaps the glass to be bought at Dollands [see later]. Three patterns of Drabs enclosed, "20 a yard". Finest cloths, any colour, "18 a yard". No other Manchesters' besides patterns sent, to suit Nuncio. Will send fine purple or violet in his coach if he finds any. Also some fine blue for a Capa for his Secretary. Will not send any greens for Lobkowitz, they are so bad. Sparre's chaise; will choose colour if no choice sent. If no Arms or Cypher sent will put an Urn or the Genius of Sweden upon it. If lining & hammer cloth to be of leather what colour?, if Manchester velvet will choose one. Lobkowitz. Cost £1.15.0. Long glasses take in more, but none of the short ones do. Paid £5. 4.6. for thermometers & pencils. Martin sends compliments. Seeds [not specified] should have had some directions. Intending to call on Bishop of Chester [Beilby Porteus]. Nothing yet done for John; will not improve whilst unemployed.
