    Setting out on or before 2 May. Baird likely to travel with him, though would not advise the Olvarez to stay at Madrid for him. Mr. Worsley definitely not coming. Mr. Richard Thompson on trip to Paris & planning to return to visit Spain with Sir R. Worsley. Dr. Warner, a clergyman, talks of Madrid at end of year. Obliged to Grantham for civilities received from his friends. May have letters from them to bring with him. Fernand Nunez, an Officer, is there. Hopes to see him before setting out. Hasn't seen Mr. Harris yet. Met Bindley who talked with Harris at Lord North's. Count Massin's Printing Press being sent via M. Brodeiers. Get Order that case should not be opened, contains articles to value of ten pounds for Waddilove "(but in truth for your Excy.) (His Ex. must expect to pay Comn. this way), Wedgewoods Vases, O connorys Ormolu & books will be in there." Lord Rochd. sending papers by Waddilove. Dined with Sir Joshua [Reynolds]. Exceedingly entertained by Johnson. Archbishop [of York?- Robert Hay Drummond] came to Town, much better now. Advised not giving way an inch [Topcliffe tythes?]. Plates of Gate Way & new Building at Bp. Thorpe. Archbishop expected to send two for Grantham. Archbishop's hand shakes too much to write. Success attending little boy [not named]. Mr. R's commission limited to about £20. Things in England have increased very much. Has bought many books. Comments on Lord Chesterfield's letters. Many characters omitted or softened, "viz of ye late Ks, Ld. Chatham's, [?] Litton etc... review of Lord B's Adn intirely left out". Johnson said he had no great depth etc... Instructions of a dancing master & of a Mother included but latter must have been a Harlot as morality is of loosest kind etc. Overheard the Waterman at Whitehall say he hopes we shall soon have Lord Grantham and brother home.
