    Details of journey from Bayonne to Paris. "Saw as little sun [in first few days] as Prince Masserano will find in London". Found fires everywhere except first two Poseda's etc... Glad he had his own bed, which is presently left in care of Mr. Joyes at Bayonne. Two broken axletrees on separate occasions. “Mr. Garon & his brother at Madrid mentioned. Much snow and ice around Poitiers. Madame Viry invited him to dine as long as he is in Paris. Saw Sir John Lambert & Mr. Recturer's friend. Latter may be of use. Attended Opera not amused with an heroic ballet. Left note at Mr. St. Pauls for his passport. Breakfasted with Mr. Marchesi (Mr. Recturer's agent). Delivered his & Mr. Zenowief/f’s letters. Marchesi attended him to coachmakers, allowed him two pounds for expenses. Breakfasted with Colonel St. Paul, same tomorrow, can't have passport until tomorrow evening. St. Paul soon to marry Miss Weston, who gives him a letter for Mrs. Aislabie. She knows Waddilove from Surrey. [Colonel St.Paul] has given Waddilove Grantham’s letter as an Introduction to Lord Stormont should they meet on the road. Indebted to Grantham for his favours etc.. Any commissions in England? Afraid he does not know the wall he is to examine at Newby. St. Paul has given him a parcel to deliver to Lord Hertford, giving Waddilove the right to see Lord Beauchamp's pictures of the Escurial. Viry received him with open arms, gave him room & bed. Compliments to Grantham & Frederick. Also from D. D'abril[?] and Mrs. Montpelier, who dined at Viry's with the Duchess & two sisters. Nothing new in Paris but the Mint. A very good building. Everything paid there on Grantham's account. Balance remaining; 600 Liv.s., to be applied as directed. Has applied for his own account. Sorry for poor Michel. Hope 30th went off to Grantham's satisfaction. Was asked if Madm. Lobkowitz had lost an eye, it was said to be the Nuncio's news. Montpelier said Fitzwilliams came to Calais to fetch Mrs. Wynne & took her to Ireland with him.
