Translation: Madam, I have just received the letter with which Your Excellency honoured me, showing me a copy of the recommendation of Col R. In a short time I will be in Sitio and I will not fail to uphold this Officers pretensions with Monsieur de [?]Ordit. Over and above the reasons I have for interesting myself in his case as he has been recommended by his old friend Lord Rochford, I can assure Your Excellency that the part she has taken in this matter is a motive which urges me greatly to strive to serve him, being with the greatest respect,etc
