The father of E G Eeles, senior , came to Bedford in 1900, having been born circa 1880. He married Mary Ann [?] at the Roman Catholic Church of All Souls, Peterborough on 12 October 1903. He was one of the founder members and directors of the Bedfordshire Building Society (formerly the Free Gardeners) established in 1924. He was a town councillor for Castle Ward from circa 1934 -1940 and Deputy Mayor for a short while in 1936. He joined the Royal Observer Corps during World War II. He became a JP in 1938. He ran a pianoforte and music business in the Broadway, Bedford, from circa 1940 until shortly before his death (on 24 May 1959. Obiturary in Bedfordshire Times 29 May 1959 page 20 column 1)
His wife Mary Ann Eeles (born (born circa 1879 - died 21st January 1957, Bedfordshire Times obiturary 25 January 1957 page 16 column 6) kept a tobacconist shop at 15 Silver Street, Bedford from circa 1919 unitl 1933
E G Eeles, and his wife Mary Ann, had three children, Dorothy, Catherine and E G Eeles (circa 1904-1987). The family attended St Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland Road, Bedford
