Received two letters by English Post. Encloses two letters [not present]. Extracts from which, from New York, were sent from Lisbon on 26 August. Writer [not named] in the dark about negotiation between "this Court and that of Spain...their F. Maj.ties being in the Country. I can get no sight of M. Sao..." Believes no progress yet made. Mr. Wilkie's papers to be copied as directed. Mr. Finch, second brother to Lord Aylesford, shot in Jersies whilst returning to Corps with a pair of Rebel Colours. Respects to Frederick.
