Two letters from A S Thornton of Sloe Hill, near Hitchin; one addressed to 'My dear Monkey' and the other to 'Dear Willie'. Refers to the Moggerhanger estate; briefly describes what has happened since the death of Col. William Thonrton in 1865. The rents do not now cover the outgoings, and the estate is in disrepair. The writer no longer wants the responsibility, and is of the opinion that parts of the estate should be sold.
