Journey to Newby [Park] postponed as Fritz's wife wishes more time with Sir James Harris before his departure in a fortnight. Gave haunch of New Forest venison to Miss Harris, Waranzou, Lord Herbert, Batt & Sir James. Walked in Kensington Gardens in evening. Sat for Mr. Wellings, will bring three portraits. Lord Boringdon undecided when to leave. Dined yesterday with Sir Joshua [Reynolds] at Richmond. Madame Genlis dines with Sir Joshua today. Jim Worsley goes on board tomorrow without sail. Bringing Swinburne's second volume, thinks it the first at Newby. Aylesford etchings not capital. Calling on Lady Bel [Amabel Polwarth] tomorrow to learn her motions, "as to sleeping with her I would not do it to be Duke of Kent". Warns against incurring sickness with Curds & Cream.
