- TitleFrom Fritz, Ripon to 2nd Baron Grantham:
- Date free text30 Jan 1785
- Production dateFrom: 1785 To: 1785
- Scope and ContentWeather very cold & snowy, not conducive to travel. Would have been angy with Lord Bathurst if he'd prevented Grantham from writing more. Too late to offer a reward for catching thieves at Newby [Park]. Prohibitor inscriptions up at Cockshut & Ripon gates. Family pictures taken down as a precaution. Thinks Mr. Comyns, frame maker will make them creditable ancestors. Would rather have assisted at Grantham's dinner with two Pelhams than at that with the foreigners or marriage feast with Poles. Does not like Grantham's indigestion. Mentions Mr. Wilkinson & nephew dined, latter in East Indies last war and in all actions with M. de Suffrein. Not sorry to avoid debate upon the Scrutiny, didn't vote on it originally, not convinced of legality.
