  • Scope and Content
Met Batt at Harrogate. Agree with him on Ireland except his satisfaction that his friends have a Secretary of so respectable a character, especially as Jack Townshend would probably have gone had Tom [Pelham] declined. Mr. & Mrs. Stuart of Allanbank & four year old son are company for Batt. Other company scarce. Play whist with them & the Italian who performed at Fritz's election exhibited his works. Batt's complaint not too bad. Still hoping to accomplish his Irish expedition. Left Green Dragon & arrived at Ripon just in time for christening of Miss Anne Margaret Waddilove. Mrs. Rhodes represented Lady Norcliffe & Miss Eva[?]. Mr. Browne stood in person. Good haunch of Newby venison afterwards. Wishes Jervis may take Dick [Worsley]. Take Rosemary Tea for headaches. Glad at Storer's nomination. The Spaniards will be very happy if the boys do well, hope there can be [no?] doubt about their primogentire. The twin infants would make a famosa Comedie. Planned route south. Dining with Milbankes on way. Details of progress at Newby [Park].
