    Grantham safely arrived at Grantham. Sir James Pennyman has given Ralph [Worlsey?] leave to pass his holydays there. If there is a `rupture' all the fault should be on the part of Sir James. Dined at London Tavern with all the Spaniards. Debate in House of Lords; Lord Thurlow very able, Lord Mansfield much broke. Church carried question by majority of one. Decision not favoured in Westminster Hall. Epsom; Nanny, Mr. Parker & Jack there. Mr. Parker won his great stake. Party at the Oaks riotous. Breakfasted with Munro, dining with Smythe. Frazer has not sent home précis on the Correspondence. Setting out Tuesday. [Sic].
