Duke & Duchess [of Devonshire] arrived bringing Lord Geo., the Fish [Crawford] & Dr. Moore the Traveller. Dined at Plympton House, tea in Green House at Saltram. Fritz's plans for journey to Newby. The Fish pleased with County. Duchess more engaging than her predecessor. Did not admire Mr. Moore's literary performance, conversation not much more lively. Sir George Armitage's son there; in Listers Light Horse, quartered at Ashburton. Children well.
