    Attending Gala this evening. No objection to Grantham's continuing with the house of Nesbitt for transaction of money matters, though Arnald died in bad circumstances etc... Castrillo and Bejar should visit London. Answer to Spanish Embassadar's dispatches via Count Aranda's messenger; no mediation currently. Oval Birmingham painting sent, no acknowledgment. Had slight gout, worked it off. Lord Clarendon asked for Fritz's vote for Lord Hyde at Cambridge; will comply. He is countenanced by Government & there was a connection between the families. Sir James Harris coming in for Christchurch, stop gap till next Government. Charles Fox & Lord Ossory both applied to Fritz for Jack Townsend. Lord Townsend felt obliged to vote for Lord Hyde as he was a near relation. Mansfield perhaps properest candidate. Dined at Mr. Hawkins', recently married Miss Cockburne daughter to an Apothecary at Bath, first cousin to Lady Ridley, father in same business at Hampstead etc... Also present Mr. & Mrs. Audley, Mr. Parker. Dined at Mr. Cossin's, Nanny, Mr. Parker, little boy, Mr. Walpole. Thence to Spanish Embassadress. Dined at Stratton St., thence to Rachel Lloyd's at Kensington with Pelhams. Supped with Batt & usual Law set. Also Cyrill Jackson, Preacher of Lincoln's Inn, Canon of Christchurch etc... Dressing for Gala in Poplin embroidered with blue & silver, little cape added. New livery's & Hammer cloth. Tom & Harry Pelham to return to Brighthelmstone & Lewes respectively. Fritz planning to go to Sussex until after Exeter Races, thence to Devonshire.
